Couple's Romantic Weekend Getaway

What better place on earth to spend a romantic couple's weekend, than in LOVEland? Here's a suggested itinerary for bringing your loved one here for a quick weekend getaway.

Arrive Friday afternoon to spend the weekend at one of our local B&B's, famed for their hospitality. Get a taste of the local color and very tasty local food Downtown in the evening, and top the night off with a stroll along the South Shore Parkway, voted repeatedly by locals as the most romantic spot in Loveland.

Saturday morning you have several choices of activities, depending on the weather and your desires. Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park are our first and favorite choices for outings, but due to the recent flood the most direct route up Hwy 34 is no longer available. To get to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, you'll need to take the scenic Peak to Peak Highway, and it will take several hours each direction. If you have the time, we encourage you to visit, but be sure to observe all traffic warnings and trail closures that may be in effect. Visiting the mountain community, you will see incredible examples of why Mountain Strong is their motto.

If you need to stay closer to Loveland and you enjoy hiking, your best two options this season are just west of town at Devil's Backbone, and north into Fort Collins at Horsetooth Reservoir. If driving is a better choice for the day, the most beautiful drive will be up the Poudre Canyon. Take Hwy 287 north out of town, north of Fort Collins, then turn left on Hwy 14 at Ted's Place. The roads are open all the way up to Walden, and along the drive you will see beautiful aspens changing color (during October), the mighty Poudre River beside you, and perhaps even a moose or two.

Saturday evening head out to the Promenade Shops at Centerra, where you can feast at many nice restaurants including Italian, Chinese, Greek and American. Stop by See's Candies for some chocolate for your loved one, enjoy window shopping along the mall, and finish your evening at Paciugo Gelato and Caffé.

Sunday morning still offers plenty of time to take an intimate stroll through the Benson Sculpture Gardens, with over 130 pieces of art on display in this easy mile-long loop, before heading back home. Thanks for spending the weekend with us, we hope to see you again soon!
